Corey Tabor, Program Director
Corey Tabor is the Director of Austin LifeGuard. He is a Certified Sexual Risk Avoidance Specialist. He was raised in Abilene, Texas and later moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas at Austin where he met his wife April. Since living in Austin, Corey has worked for a number of non-profit organizations in the community. He loves working with LifeGuard because of the impact he sees in the lives of teens on a daily basis. As the director, Corey works with various people in the community to promote LifeGuard but he also speaks to students in the classroom. He enjoys watching movies, reading, spending time with friends, watching football and playing golf. Corey and April have two daughters, Anaia and Charis.
Salena Wells, Assistant Director
Salena is a proud former army brat that has lived all over the U.S. including the two states that are not continental states and Ft. Hood, Texas. Her creative writing and public speaking talents met each other in the front of her third-grade class, sharing an unusual short story about a stuffed Karate bear. She has a B.S. in Family and Human Services from John Brown University with an emphasis in youth education. Salena's favorite aspect of working with Austin LifeGuard is having an energetic, honest, safe, and productive conversation with students surrounding a foundational area of life.
Jason DeGraaf, Staff Educator
Jason left his home in the St Louis area in 1996 to attend the University of Arizona. He, like many of our staff members, has some interesting hobbies. He likes swing dancing, practicing yoga and is a self-proclaimed fantasy nerd who likes Star Wars, Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings. His favorite part about working for Austin LifeGuard is engaging in dialogue with students about extremely relevant, life-changing topics. He has been a Certified Sexual Risk Avoidance Specialist.
